Neil

I graduated from Sheffield Medical School in 1986 and completed my hospital and GP training in South Yorkshire. For a number of years I was the Medical Director of the Sheffield Out of Hours GP Collaborative and was also Cancer Lead Clinician for the former Sheffield West Primary Care Trust.

In 2004 I was involved in setting up the Sheffield Lymphoedema Service, a service now based at Fairlawns. I currently hold the position of Medical Appeals Tribunal Member (a judicial appointment) and have done so since 1995.

I am also a member of the Appraisals Committee at the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) in London and attend monthly meetings.

My active interests are fly fishing, swimming and skiing. I am married with two children.

Fai

Since this time I have developed special interests in gynaecology, family planning and dermatology and along with Dr Poyser carry out all minor surgery procedures in the Practice.

I am married to a GP and have a daughter and  a son. I am a qualified acupuncturist and in my spare time I enjoy scuba diving, keeping fit and socialising with family and friends.

Fiona

From an early age I knew I wanted to pursue a career in General Practice. I trained as a Doctor in Sheffield and qualified in 1997. I then completed my GP training in Sheffield and subsequently joined Tramways Medical Centre in 2002.

My areas of special interest are cardiovascular disease, dermatology and medicines management.

I currently work part time due to family commitments as I have two sons. My main hobby is traditional Irish music and I play fiddle in an Irish folk band.

Lindsey

Dr Martin Hakes BSc MB ChB MRCGP

After completing a biochemistry degree I worked for a year as a volunteer in a hospice. I went on to study medicine in Birmingham and qualified as a Doctor in 2002. I then moved to Sheffield to complete my GP training. I have enjoyed a variety of posts including paediatrics and accident and emergency and have a particular interest in care of the elderly and dementia. I am a strong believer in effective communication between Doctors and patients, and always strive to make medicine as understandable as possible.

I am married with a two young sons and my leisure interests include football, films and surfing.

Rosie

Dr Rosemary Page MB ChB MRCGP

I grew up in Sheffield, then in 1994 went to University of Leeds to train as a Doctor and qualified in 2000. I worked in Bradford, York and Sheffield before leaving for New Zealand in 2003 where I mainly worked in Paediatrics. I returned to England in 2006 and completed my GP training in Lincolnshire in 2007. Since then I have worked as a GP in Lincolnshire and Derbyshire and joined Dr Poyser and Partners in January 2009.

In my spare time I enjoy the great outdoors from gardening to country rambling to skiing. On a more regular basis I enjoy studio fitness classes from spinning to step (I’m a qualified aerobics instructor!) and I have recently taken up ballroom dancing. I am married and have two sons.

Dawn

Dawn Clayton RN Dip

In 1995 I qualified in General Nursing and Diploma in Social Sciences from St Bartholomew’s and the University of London.

Following qualification I have worked in the fields of general medicine, acute admissions, community nursing and I have attained my B Med Sci in midwifery, all of which have led me to my current role of Practice Nurse.

As a Practice Nurse I take a joint responsibility for the management of chronic diseases. In addition I have specialist interest in the management of coronary heart disease and associated with this lifestyle management, including weight control.

I live locally and have one daughter and outside of work my interests include the church, classical singing, drama and dance, reading, keep fit and generally enjoying life with my family and friends.

Kate

Kate Leadley RN Dip, B Med Sci, B Mus (hons)

Having qualified in 1996 from Sheffield I worked as a Staff Nurse in the fields of gynaecology and intensive care. I joined the Practice in 2003 and since this time have developed specialist skills in the fields of diabetes and sexual health. As a member of the Practice Nurse Team I take a joint responsibility for the management of chronic diseases.

I am married with two children and although I enjoy my family life I do manage to find the time to teach and play the clarinet and piano.

Kate

Helen Camm RGN

I began nursing in Sheffield in 1983 and studied for an Orthopaedic qualification prior to completing my General Nurse Training in 1985. After qualifying I worked at the Northern General Hospital on the Cardio-Thoracic Unit until early 1990.

To consolidate my earlier training I worked across all departments of the Orthopaedic Unit until leaving to further develop my career as a Community Nurse in Walkley. In 2003 I moved into the field of Practice Nursing and joined the Practice in 2006.

My responsibilities at work include the management of chronic diseases, women's health, travel health, diabetes and promoting healthy eating and exercise. I have particular interest in the management of patients on Warfarin.

I am married and live locally. I have three sons who are all keen on football so am often seen out on a weekend on the touchline. I play netball for a team and love being outdoors particularly walking and camping. I enjoy socialising with my family and friends.

Bev

Beverley Glynn RGN

I completed my nurse training in Bangor, North Wales in 1990. I initially specialised in intensive care nursing, working in Bangor and Norwich and in 2003 joined the MOD in Buckinghamshire as a Practice Nurse. In this post I was fortunate to complete training in a wide range of skills including a diploma in asthma care in 2004. In 2006 I, along with my family relocated to South Yorkshire and I was fortunate to secure a post with the Practice.

I have a particular interest in respiratory disease, health promotion, well being and travel health, and the latter probably due to years of sending our troops to exotic destinations.

I am married with two children fast approaching their teens and more recently we added a retired greyhound to the family. I enjoy cooking for family and friends, gardening, reading and hill walking.

Joanne

Joanne Smith

Before moving into general practice I worked as a Receptionist, an Administrator and a Retail Manager, and I brought the skills I acquired whilst working in these roles to the post of Practice Receptionist when I joined Dr Poyser and Partners in 2003.

I have always liked working with the public and in particular I enjoyed the interaction with patients during my time on reception, so in 2006 when the opportunity arose to further my career I accepted the post of Health Care Assistant with the Practice. Since this time I have attended many courses to further develop my clinical skills and I feel very proud to be able to help the GPs and Practice Nurses deliver clinical services to patients.

I am married and have two grown up children at University and three more in full time education. In my spare time I play tenor horn with Stannington Brass Band and am proud to say we have just qualified to the Championship Section which is the equivalent to the premiership in football. I also enjoy gardening and taking regular holidays with my family.

Louise

Louise Morton

Upon leaving school I started nurse training at Sheffield School of Nursing. Unfortunately I was unable to complete my training and in 1984 I left to get married and become Medical Director of SCOPE. I have always regretted not continuing nursing so when I saw the Practice’s advertisement for a Health Care Assistant in 2007 I saw this as an opportunity to work with patients and to build on some of my existing skills. The role of the Health Care Assistant is very different to that of a Nurse but even so I find the role very interesting and rewarding.

I am married with two grown up children and a son of six. I moved into the area fourteen years ago and currently my husband and I are in the process of renovating a cottage, something that we find enjoyable if not testing at times. I am a qualified baby massage instructor, reflexologist and holistic therapist. My other hobbies are walking with our dog and gardening.

Bev

Sue Sharpe

I am employed as the Practice’s Business Manager and have been in post since September 2005.

Prior to working in general practice I have worked in various roles throughout the NHS over a period of sixteen years. My last job was working for the Sheffield West Primary Care Group and more latterly the Sheffield West Primary Care Trust in the role of Deputy Head of Primary Care. I worked in this role for approximately eight years supporting the development of general practice and as a consequence improving services to patients. During my time in the NHS I successfully completed the Post Graduate Certificate in Health and Social Care with Sheffield Hallam University which has been invaluable in strengthening my practical management skills.

Outside of work I enjoy travelling, skiing, gardening and walking with my husband and dog.
