Development examination by a Health Visitor |
You will be sent an appointment with details of where and when the development examination with the Health Visitor will take place and it’s very important that you contact the surgery if you are unable to keep the appointment.
If the above examinations/reviews are satisfactory you will be sent a questionnaire about your child's progress when they are 2 and 31/2 years old.
WELL BABY CLINICS
Having a baby, particularly the first, is a major undertaking in any couple's life. Few couples go through this experience without some difficulties of one sort or another. The baby clinic offers help and support to parents through the early stages of parenthood which should make the process more easy and hopefully less stressful.
Remember, you will need to visit the baby clinic throughout your child's early life, at regular intervals, for medical examinations, checks on growth and development as well as for routine vaccinations.
Baby clinics provide a comprehensive service to help you keep your child healthy and growing well. Regular checks on the child, both for proper growth and development as well as for any medical problems, will help to maintain your peace of mind as the child grows.
The first visit to the baby clinic will usually be when baby is 8 weeks old. At this stage a GP will give your baby a complete physical examination and check their growth and development. The first infant vaccination is usually carried out at this visit. Postnatal examinations are not available in baby clinics and separate appointments should be made during normal surgery hours.
Part of the care provided for your family is given by the Practice’s Health Visiting Team. They work from Middlewood Medical Centre and can be contacted by telephone on 0114 2294921 or 2294922.
Please note that we prefer to see children who are NOT ILL in this Clinic, as it is unfair to spread germs and illness to those who are well.
