Violence and Abuse
Our GPs, Nurses and Reception Staff have formed good relationships with the majority of patients. We are pleased to say that most problems are dealt with in a calm and professional manner.
However there have been a few occasions where patients have become aggressive, abusive and sometimes violent both at reception and during consultations. Such incidents create an awkward environment and are upsetting to GPs, their staff and other patients in the Surgery.
We will not tolerate any form of violence or abuse against members of the Practice Team or other patients. Patients who are violent in the Surgery will be removed by the Police and may be removed from the Practice List.
If a patient is abusive to staff we will contact that patient by letter and explain our violence policy and our expectations of them. A patient who is persistently abusive may be removed from the Practice List if we are unable to agree on what constitutes acceptable behaviour.
