INTERPRETERS
The Practice has access to the Sheffield Community Access and Interpreting Service (SCAIS), an interpreting service hosted by NHS Sheffield. All of the interpreters that work for SCAIS have been through a vigorous recruitment and selection process.
HOW TO BOOK AN INTERPRETER
Our Receptionists are responsible for booking interpreters and you should ask for an interpreter at the time you book your appointment. Wherever possible you should give at least five days notice of your need to see a GP or Practice Nurse as this will allow SCAIS to find a suitable interpreter. SCAIS cannot guarantee the services of an interpreter with less that five day's notice.
We do not advise that relatives or friends interpret during consultations. The Practice feels it is inappropriate to ask children to provide an interpreting service.
Although telephone interpreting is sometimes available to the Practice it is not always considered appropriate therefore is not recommended.
