Hepatitis B Vaccinations
Are you travelling abroad?
Depending on where you are travelling to you may need vaccinating against Hepatitis B. Unfortunately this immunisation is not available on the NHS for travellers.
Our Practice Nurses give free travel advice to patients before any vaccinations are given and will advise you of the cost of this course of treatment.
You can also access some very useful travel advice at www.fco.gov.uk
Do you need vaccination against Hepatitis B for occupational reasons?
GP's do not provide an occupational health service as part of their NHS responsibility, nor can they provide this service to you even if it is funded by you.
Under Health and Safety Regulations your employer has a duty to provide both a safe working environment and appropriate health advice for those at risk of infection from Hepatitis B.
We advise you to contact your emploer who will be able to make arrangements with an occupational health provider for the provision of any immunisations which you may require following an appropriate assessment of the risk to which you are exposed.
We can provide you with a letter to give to your employer which clarifies their responsibility to you under Health and Safety Regulations.
If you are self employed you will be required to pay for your own course of treatment.
Hepatitis B immunisations are availsble on the NHS if required for clinical reasons.
