IMMUNISATIONS
Immunising your child againt common disease is a simple and almost painless procecdure. Vaccinations are given in a staged way over the first five years of life and give protection against eight important diseases. The immunisations available are those advised by the Department of Health and are for:-
- Diptheria
- Whooping Cough
- Tetanus and Haemophilus Influenzae
- Poliomyetlitis
- Mumps
- Measles
- German Measles
- Meningitis C
- Pneumococcal
FIRST JABS - 2, 3 & 4 MONTHS OF AGE
Poliomyelitis, Diptheria, Tetanus; Whooping Cough, Haemophilus Influenzae, Meningitis C, Pneumococcal.
12 MONTHS OF AGE
Haemophilus Influenzae/Meningitis C booster.
13 MONTHS OF AGE
MMR-Measles, Mumps, Rubella (German Measles) and Pneumococcal.
All vaccinations can be done in baby clinic or in a surgery session if the clinic is at a time when you can't get to surgery. Surprinsingly there are still some parents who don't immunise their children at all. If you have any worries or concerns about routine vaccinations and whether your child should have a particular vaccination please speak to a GP or Practice Nurse.
